The Silver Society is pleased to announce the launch of its annual Prize for 2024! The Prize of £1,000 will be awarded to a silversmith who is in the first five years of their career as a practising silversmith.

The competition will be conducted virtually and submissions should be made by email to: prize@thesilversociety.org by 30 August 2024.

The submission must be of a piece of silver, either made specially for the competition or pre-existing, and should comprise a detailed portfolio including designs, a technical description of its manufacture, the maker’s CV, details of the hallmarks and images of the making process and the finished piece. The submission may also include any other relevant material, such as design drawings, a video or a commentary on the sources of inspiration.

The entrant should have worked as a practising silversmith for less than five years. The submission may not be a piece of jewellery. The competition will be judged by an expert panel and the winner will be announced on 23 October 2024 at the Goldsmiths’ Centre in London when they will receive the prize of £1,000.

The winning piece and a profile of its maker will be included in the 2024 Silver Society Journal.
